A truly rare Ford GT (only seven were made) The 'street' version of the MKI A beautiful car in a very unusual color for a Ford GT40

This is a new Cult Models release and I think they did an excellent job.

I like it !  To me, it looks too dark to be called 'Ferrari Red'....at least I hope so !

Great looking Ford GT ! Cult Models did a terrific job with this already-fine looking car. The color is excellent, too.

That does look excellent.  The color must really stand out in your GT40 collection.

@gavin That is why I bought this particular model - It turns out that the real car this color was the first 'customer car' (third one built) and this was the color he chose. That was the jackpot for me - unique but accurate color. This model is also 001 of 120 so I got a double bonus.

When the Mklll was released, I couldn't wait to read the Car and Driver review and look at the specs. C&D absolutely trashed the car with 3 pages of QC as well as performance failures. It was powered by the 289 from the GT350 line. Ergo, only 7 of this street version were made.

I must ask.....

Were you just lucky or did you have connections?

@chris Just lucky - never ever expected to get a 001 especially on an international purchase with a seller I had never done business with before.

@franklemire It's great you finally filled that hole in your collection. The curbside model looks fine.

@rich-sufficool It does feel good to fill in 'missing links' and luckily this model is a good representation of the car. There are still a few more to go - like the 1965 Le Mans cars and the J Car but I'm pleased with my Ford GT collection as it stands now. I wish I was as happy with my Cobra roadster collection

I hope 119 other buyers didn't get an 001 COA with their model...👎

@100ford2003 You know that would be fine with me - I'm not looking to sell it - interesting idea though - Something that Tony K might have pulled back in the old days.

I'm glad to say that I never had the 'pleasure' of dealing with Tony K.

I always enjoy looking at your model collection Frank as you've got the best of the best !

@100ford2003 Thanks for the kind words. I made a decision years ago to keep a pretty narrow focus on what I collect - sports racing cars of the 1960's and 1970's and that any model I buy I will display - That has allowed me, with few exceptions, to buy the 'best available'.

You're welcome Frank. That's a good decision.

I was all over the place with my 1/18 collection. If I liked it.... I got it.  30's thru current year as I wasn't as focused as you.
