Few actors lived as intensely as Richard Harris, and the details of his life reflect that. A major star of the 1960s and ’70s, he earned an Oscar nomination for This Sporting Life and later another for The Field. In between, his reputation off-screen rivalled his performances, with reports claiming he once drank up to two bottles of vodka a day. During that period, a luxury car he owned was effectively forgotten in a New York garage, left untouched for decades as storage fees quietly climbed into the tens of thousands.

By the 1980s, Harris had largely stopped drinking and began rebuilding his career, leading to a late resurgence with roles like Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator and Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films. Over a career spanning more than 40 years and 60 films, he remained a contradiction—at times chaotic, yet undeniably enduring.

His recording of MacArthur Park sold over a million copies and earned a Grammy nomination, making him one of the rare actors to achieve major chart success as a singer. Despite two Academy Award nominations, he never won, even with a career that stretched across four decades.

Q: Why OH WHY do I see so many 1970's - early '80's Vettes with replacement "end pieces" that suffer from "color-matching" issues? I understand that these pieces often need to be replaced - AND - the foreign made re-pops don't always fit very well - BUT - WHY are so MANY not even painted properly?

I don't get it! 😬 😠 😠 😡

Here is a Matchbox diecast car I got when I was a small kid. It is a deep blue Jaguar 4-door sedan and it is a really attractive automobile with a classic Jag front end/grille.

This is an older replica of the 1957 Studebaker Hawk as done by Solido many years ago. The Studebaker Golden and Silver Hawks were good-looking personal luxury cars with strong V-8 engines under the hood and this 1/43 displays that really nicely.
