LOL! Good - though stereotypical - and for good reason I suppose. We've had tons of animals over the years. My daughter and I built a kennel in Texas and took in strays, drop-offs and unwanted pets of all types. Dogs mostly, followed closely by cats.
Every once in a while we'd get a cat that we suspected was raised with dogs and acted accordingly. Years later I took in a 'throw-away' tortoiseshell female; Katie. She was my cat/dog for 22 years!! Came the split second I called her, would sit and stay as I directed, wanted nothing more than to curl up near you and purr like a motorboat!
She also fell in love with all our dogs including a 200+ pound Great Dane, Baron Von Tivoli ('Baron'), and my show dog, Azarro Arum ('Zaro') an Ibizan Hound. She acted like their mamma!!
Well done Tony. Dogs and cats repay our attention and provide a lifetime of satisfaction.

Absolutely! Well said David!!
I don't know, 2 out of my 3 outdoor cats come running whenever we get home and want to be held.
My wife and I have been taking in stray dogs and cats our entire 59+ years we have been married. Because of our advanced years, and not having children, we are now down to two cats and one dog. I tell people that our cats forgot to read the instructions because they come when we call them and are every bit as affectionate as our 94 pound Yellow lab/ Golden Retriever mix. Give any animal enough love and attention and they will respond accordingly.

great post all.
Bobs last comment reminded me of a video, which I'm pretty sure was posted in the Lounge ages ago, about a woman who took in feral kittens, real hissing, scratching nasty little buggers and then with care, skill, love and attention she turned them into fully domesticated loving pets who she passed on to families who wanted one.
