I choose the Mercury, it’s is a much more modern looking car than the Pontiac.

Though I agree that the Mercury seems to be more modern looking, and I like it, I have to vote for the PONTIAC.  My Dad owned two '53 Pontiac's, a Star Chief and a Catalina, and I loved them both as a kid.  So this one is a sentimental vote.

George, The Star Chief didn't come out untill 1954. My dad had a 1954 Star Chief Custom sedan with factory A/C. In 1953 The top line was the Chieftain I believe.

Mercury, but I like the '54 better for the redesigned taillights.

Mercury. A friend of my parents bought a new one and I thought it was great.

Mercury this time John. I really did not get interested in Pontiac until 1955.

The '53 is my favorite Mercury.  The Pontiac is really nice too but bows to the Merc.
