The DeSoto was a smooth rendition of the high-tailed Chrysler styling of that era.  But this Mercury always looked somewhat like a jukebox to me.

Of the three DeSoto years, 57-58-59. I like the '58 the least. The Mercury is still so over the top, how can you resist all that styling.

I think the DeSoto is the prettier car.  Even better with the top down!

I really like both these cars and for years likely would have picked the DeSoto. Now, I cannot choose between them, thus a tie.

I never thought I'd say this, but I like the DeSoto better.  That said, I've always liked the '57 and '58 Mercury's due their over the top styling that was "out there" at the time.

DeSoto for me. I never cared for the '58 Mercery, but I loved the '57.

DeSoto by a wide margin '57 thru '59 for me.  I just never warmed up to those years of Mercury styling but love the years before and after very much.

DeSoto. It's beautiful. Love the Mercury too, but it's outclassed here IMO.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
