If everything works out, he will eventually be my replacement, probably sometime during the next twelve months. I love what I do, but I'm beginning to feel my bandwidth narrow, and, at seventy-three, I am looking forward to taking a step or two back.

I say all this to mention this: today may have been my last Easter Sunday sermon. If anyone is interested in hearing/watching it, I don't want to post it here. But, if you would like to see it, send me a note (kuvakas@gmail.com), and I'll send you the link. The title is "The Scars That Never Heal."

Gardening is much more than just a hobby—it’s a biological interaction with the Earth that changes your brain chemistry.

There is a harmless, common bacterium found in soil called Mycobacterium vaccae.

The Serotonin Boost: When you garden, you inhale this bacteria or it gets onto your skin. Research shows it stimulates a specific group of neurons in your brain to produce Serotonin—the "feel-good" chemical.

Prozac of the Earth: Scientists have found that the effect of this soil bacteria on the brain is similar to antidepressant drugs like Prozac, but without any side effects.

Brain Power: In studies (like those by the University of Bristol, England), mice exposed to this bacteria showed reduced anxiety and a significantly higher ability to learn new tasks.

I am happy to have a 1/25 Liberty Classics diecast of the 4-door convertible. Here the actual 1:1 sedan is obviously the favorite ride of actress and robot Claudette Colbert, who is apparently screwing her robot head back on to inform us all of the benefits of this Dodge automobile !

Randy showed us a nice set of Alfa Romeo Figoni spiders a while ago - but they still have not been released by Matrix: https://diecast.org/community/1_43/coming-in-26-from-matrix/#post-219004

However, I then went back to my xls list to see what Matrices I had missed. I still lack several; they are not available on the 'Bay or are all in Italia at $$$... This one was 'make an offer' so I did. Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Figoni Coupe 1933, a beautiful French curvy Italian coupe! How did I miss then when it came out? In any case I put in an offer equal to my last new Matrix price and it was accepted. The double win is that it was being sold by a non-profit Museum, so they keep the proceeds! The National Museum of Transportation is in St. Louis - check it out if you are in the area.

The black and white paint job is very Bugatti-esque but it works well on this style Coupe. This article calls it one of a kind and showed it on display at Sydney Harbour! Same license plate as well!

It's been restored for a while at Villa D'Este 2012 - https://www.madle.org/evilla12c.htm Check out the rear view at this link. I checked out the 1:43 Matrix to make sure it has that V-crease in the back - it does!

One day while wandering around Khorat RTAFB in 1969 waiting for assignment, I saw another of what I thought was a relic, an F-101 "Voodoo". This was the second aircraft in the vaunted Century Series of supersonic fighters (1957) after the F-100 Super Sabre. In its day, it was a record breaking high speed interceptor capable of Mach 1.8. In practice, it turned out to be be a lousy dogfighter and was superseded by the Phantom. I was well acquainted with all the Century series having built Revell models of them as they came out. I always figured the F 101 was mothballed years ago. It turns out it was resurrected as the RF-101A reconnaissance aircraft using its speed and low level capabilities to keep an eye out on the old Ho Chi Minh Trail. It was actually based in another Thai airbase at Udorn so I guess there was a story there. Funny, all the interesting and sometimes crazy stuff I witnessed, I had to wait for the internet to give me a context to all I saw in that theater. It's been a series of "So THAT's what was going on! I get it now!". Anyway, here's another excellent Hobby Master diecast model of the ISR Voodoo variant liveried for Udorn. (I haven't photographed mine yet)

CMC's 1963 Porsche 901. It was also nominated for best leather and fabric upholstery, gas filler and a beautifully modeled vent window. The replacement for Porsche's 356, 80 were built with that badge before Peugeot sued for the middle zero in the model number which they had trademarked. Oddly, it only applies to passenger cars which would be competitive with theirs. As to dedicated race cars, Porsche was allowed to use the '907', '908' and '909' for their track cars. I always swore I had no interest in Porsches and Corvettes, and somehow I wound up with dozens of various models. This CMC model is a real gem and beautifully crafted.
