Yes, way back then. Today the price of a model is no longer 97 cents.

We’ll remember the average price of a 1/48 model being 98 cents back in the mid late 1950s☺️👍🏻

Me too, although some models were up to about $1.50.  I also remember a bottle of Testors paint was 10 cents.

LOL’ bought this 1/200 Trumpeter model HMS KENT a while ago just to see if my modeling skills had diminished in the 60 some past years, guess at 79 years of age I’m still fairly good at it…..though the damn thing cost me $80😂 and with all the extras decking and 3D made custom gun mounts etc. and paint cost ran over $200 lol.

I’m still eventually planning on installing the photo etch railing though those are going to be a real bear for me,also would love adding the rigging but ehhhhh, 😂
