One of my favorite model car, also sold couple months ago. I spent half a year with this incredible model car.
It’s certainly an A in my collections. The engine bay is the best part of everything , the wire management is not ‘perfect’ but this does make the engine bay look better.
The engine is a V8, as Jeremy Clarkson said in the TOP GEAR 2004, he actually love this Mercedes, it’s more like a muscle car than a super car easy to drive and powerful.
So sad that Mercedes Benz stoped making this.
Giant hinges are also functional to support the hood, but the scale is unfortunately not right. Too big for a model car, but still I love it a lot.
the interior is really good, they even used the real leather, that’s cool
What a beautiful model of a great car. CMC like all model makers, sometimes enlarge components like hinges to make them less fragile. While I would prefer complete accuracy, I know why they do so. I have the Tamiya 1/24 plastic kit, so far unbuilt of this one but love the CMC. Thank you for this post.
@david-green So happy you love it David.
I did try to buy a Tamiya kit and build it by myself, after I got this CMC, but stopped the moment I paid, because I didn’t believe I can complete it.
Look at this kit, all these tiny parts could drive me nuts
I thought this was never given the attention it deserved. A lot of models released around the same time caused it to get lost in the shuffle. I have the gray version and I agree, the underhood and interior are over the top, thanks for sharing.

@josh Glad to see you back here, I thought you moved full time to Scale18
@josh Thanks Josh, this Mercedes-McLean model is true a masterpiece, leave alone how good it looks, the incredible details really set a high bar for me. The only CMC that could put smile on my face. What surprised me is that the little nipples made of bronze on the doors are actually functional, when we closed the door , they can actually hold the door and stopped it from popping out unexpectedly. And the interior is full of leather, kind of ‘too’ luxurious for a model car, but it looks and feels awesome ! I really hope CMC can make more copies in the future.
@chav Hi, I had been coming here everyday until the change was made, just hadn't posted anything. I think I like the new system and it's easy to post. Looking forward to New Releases and Auctions coming back, and it's nice to see so many members signed up already. Thanks by the way

It's interesting that you posted this model. I just saw one of these on the road last week. It's a magnificent car. I too have the CMC version. I love the model.
@marlowe-or-marty Wow, I did see a silver one last week, it’s a true classic. The cmc version is the best SLR model:)
