Great model & I love the color combo. Light ivory against the red plaid is outstanding.
Did you just get that 901? That was the first iteration released in 2008. I would have figured it sold out long ago.
@rich-sufficool This came from a collector that kept it in the box, there is a yellow one available as well, Go to Rare Collectable Models out of Tennessee or search on eBay.
Yep! Just an awesome model I regret not getting way back when. The color, that interior, all those details, etc., so-on & so-on.... JUST AWSOME! Very cool. 😎 😎
The car that got Peugeot all upset resulting in a name change. Nice to see that this one warranted a fine model by CMC.
Had I known back when I started collecting what I know now, my collection would be a lot smaller but it would only be made up of CMC and Exoto models. I know there are other manufacturers out there that come close to CMC/Exoto level detail but I would have been a lot more particular about the model manufacturers that went into my collection. I'm not complaining about what I have, only 1 CMC and 2 Exoto models. Now I'm trying to decide if I should sell my whole collection (1/43, 1/24, 1/18) now or let my son dispose of it after I'm gone.
@old-caddys - I totally understand what you're saying. When I first started collecting, I wasn't very discriminating and added models just to have them. About 1/3 of my collection is comprised of models worth less than $100. Many of them display well, but they're definitely on the lower end of quality and detail, and I've since regretted devoting so much space to lower-end models that could have been used for better models. I distinctly recall when I decided to devote my collecting to higher-level Exoto/CMC/BBR models so the quality level of my collection has definitely been enhanced with that decision.
My wife, lamenting having to face the task of disposing of my collection after I move on, has been after me to liquidate it now. I've thought about honoring her wishes but have resisted. We've discussed when that day comes she should contact a professional estate liquidator to handle the sale of my collection. I have a detailed Excel spreadsheet with detailed descriptions of each model, all of the boxes, and original documentation, so they stand a chance of bringing in a nice lump sum of cash for her.
@old-caddys Enjoy your collections until the end and dump them on your kids. Every antique and collectible dealer I've talked to offer the same advice.
I recently brought up the subject to my wife about liquidating my 6,000 plus pieces. Her answer was if they continue to bring you joy, why would you want to do that?
.....all you guys are creeping me out! But of course, it's a legitimate question all collectors face. Regardless of size or value, we can't take it with us. If any of you find a way, however, contact me immediately, day or night. 😏 🤨

Rich,
You and Marty have offered advice from opposite ends of the spectrum on this subject. While I hope I don't kick the bucket too soon, I want to make it easier for our two kids to dispose of what is left. If I go first I'm pretty sure my wife will just leave the models in the curio cabinets and the boxes in our shed until she passes. We don't have millions to leave our kids and grandkids, only our house, car, whatever is in our bank account and any personal possessions which have a perceived value on the secondary market. My wife is a doll collector (pre 1900 German and French bisque dolls) and up until the covid pandemic was also selling dolls on Ebay to offset the cost of her collecting. I could have done the same with the model cars, but chose to just buy what I liked and could afford. I've often thought about calling Brian at Replicarz to see what his process is for buying collections. I'm sure they will try and low ball the value of my collection as they turn around and put them up for auction on eBay. Still not 100% sure what I'm going to do, but a phone call to Replicarz sure wouldn't hurt.
