(PICS) Ertl's 1955 Chevrolet opeing trunk...now what to do with it?
Make a convertible? Hardtop? Repaint?
These parts are from the scrap box; I'm still missing a chassis. But (BUT!) here's a "full function" Ertl '55 Chevy.
I used hinges (modified) from a Yat-Ming '56 while the trick behind the hinge cover are hidden machine nuts below the surface of the epoxy putty.
On the heels on Marlowe's terrific LN Mustang this mod almost seems like child's-play but as I noted last time, this Ertl is something we've never seen before & something they should've done.

Good going Chris!! BTW...how bout I send you my Sunstar '57 Ford retractable? Maybe...just maybe you could use it to make a '55 Chevy retractable!!!! Now how about that? I'm sure that only you could do this...wait...Marlowe could too!

There is a reason Chevrolet didn't do the Ford hissing and banging, noisey,popping, leaking no where to put your luggage thing...lol
Stick with the nice cuts on the trunk and the GREAT hinge arragement.
You are truely gifted with the "open trunk" capability.
I know, some where deep in your die cast cave, you are working on some 1/64 trunk hinges...lol
As always, I admire your work, simple or complex.

Chris - If you are doing a HT (my favorite) and a repaint of the exterior how about
This black one >>> You won't have to change the interior color and besides...It will show the chrome on this beauty much better. I also treated my 55 Chev to Fuel Injection (from a Bburago 57 Corvette).
P.S. - You did a GREAT job on that trunk 😉

(PIC) Nice Hot Rod Ron. Yes, black & chrome w/red interior is always a great combo but I'm .....
...thinking that if I do repaint then I want a color combo that was NOT offered by Ertl and they released many combos.
Possibly this....... without skirts & a black top.
