@chris I read an article that addressed this car and the rims and according to the article they went with this rim because of the power output was causing the wire wheels to collapse. I don't remember what article it was but that was what it stated the reason was for using these rims. I know other 275 GTB's did have wire wheels.
Update, I found this at TopSpeed site:
The coupe rode on bespoke Borrani wire wheels wrapped in Dunlop tires and it was the last competition Ferrari to use wire rims. These were dropped after Ferrari discovered that the immense power of the engine coupled with the tremendous grip of the tires could overstress and break the spokes of the wheels. From then on, no competition Ferrari would be fitted with wire wheels again.
I found a photo of an actual 1967 model of this car with the solid rims on it:Â

So you think your Mustang, Camaro, Corvette or other sports car is fast? Well hold my beer and hang on, the "Li'l Red Express Truck" is coming through.Â
In 1978 due to smog equipment required on cars Dodge figured out that they could build a cool pickup that would out perform the performance cars because the trucks were not required to have all the smog equipment on them resulting in a pickup that was the fastest production vehicle in 1978 in the quarter mile.Â
Â
I always really liked those trucks....so cool looking with the vertical exhaust stacks.
