Well, I finally did get an order in.....
For the Sunstar 1:18 1959 Dodge.

Looks like you'll be happy with this model. Glad I was wrong about the casting. The fins may....
....still be a bit off but clearly they're within acceptable tolerances. I'm excited about this Sun Star release.

That's great, Jack ! 1959 Dodges are such great-looking cars and clearly will make for an exceptionally cool diecast model in 1/18th scale.
I have to keep to a budget, so I still can't decide which '59 Dodge to order yet !
I hope another successful release means more cars will be added to the Platinum Series in the future, although there will still likely be panic and misconceptions with any photographic images presented. As with any model, or course it won't be "perfect" but it almost certainly will be a very worthy release. Bring on even more '59 Dodges and then the next subjects in the Platinum line !

Chris - In my post down below I said that until someone gets one in the hand it is hard to tell exactly what the diecast will turn out like. I am glad that this loooooooooong awaited diecast is within acceptable tolerances and now I can feel comfortable buying one. I believe my choice will be to wait for the black convertible and whenever a hardtop is issued I'll get one of those also.:D

Hard to believe I'll soon finally have one
in a week or two.
It's a beautiful car, and it looks like Sunstar
has done an amazing job replicating it in 1:18
form.

I know I'm in the minority here but I would love a wagon of this to put next to the convertible.

A wagon? I have nothing against any vehicle or anyones tastes in them so don't take this the wrong way anybody, just MHO but to me wagons are work vehicles and 4 doors are everyday cars 2 door post or sedans are cheap looking, no class, too many around in the day, just don't have fond memories or desires for work or grocery getters. Funny I don't want to collect rare or exotic vehicles either usually designed way too far out for my old taste. To me the 2 dr hardtop or convertible are the cars that look the best and were what I desired back in the day that carries over to my model collecting. Again guys just my personal opinion not meant to criticize anybody else's taste. ALL TRANSPORTATION machines are interesting to me; I just don't collect models of them.
Sorry for the almost rant, just an old geezer geezing.

Bruce....you're nuts! LOL Just kidding. Your point is well taken. Convertibles & 2-door ...
..hardtops do look best in practically any can line. Four doors & wagons, however, have been, IMO, a HUGE lost opportunity in the 1/18 market. Most 1/18 foreign models are 4-doors (w/many wagons too) but American 4-door models are scarce.
I say bring them on! I'd buy ANY 1/18 post war (to early 70's) American 4-door or wagon.
