Half the lyrics were already established in The Rivingtons' 1962 Papa Oom Mow Mow - but the genius remains. The Trashmen's Surfin' Bird, Thr Rivieras' California Sun, Sam The Sham & The Pharaos' Wully Bully and Sir Douglas Quintet's Mendocino are difinitive sounds of the era.

Whoever choreographed the five chimpanzees, was brilliant. And they stayed in tune and in step throughout the entire song. Mesmerizing; a performance of legend!
