a few weeks ago, I watched the view post count on one of my posts go from zero to 532 in a relatively short period of time........I had initiated a posting at approx 10am to test a single photograph, presented in 3 different crop ratios......when I looked back at it later,it showed 300 views..a single photo,posted on a Wednesday morning, will not typically garner 300 views....about 20 minutes later I looked again and found the post view count had reached 432....ultimately,it registered 523 views.....
on a few days last week,and the week prior, I saw what seemed to be the same phenomena occur multiple times,over several posters
finally.....if you pull up "Forum 24" you will see a cumulative view count (for all views?) of 8742.....this,despite one post alone sporting over 10,000 views
The wizard squirrels are certainly helping. Note that every time a logged in member hits a post with more than one pages, the software opens the first page of the post and then automatically redirects to the last where you want to go anyway. Nothing wrong with that but the counter clocks 2 views. So for all these posts with more than one page, the number of views could be erroneously high as much as doubled.
John, I think you are getting the numbers wrong, 8790 (currently) is the number of posts (like this entry, once I hit 'Add Reply' the number should go to 8791), the cumulative number of views is not shown per forum. The number of views is shown only per topic.

you`re right Chav.....I seem to have been juxtapositioning view counts with post counts.....but I still contend that "view" counts sporadically begin multiplying on random threads,at an unreasonable pace at random times.....in a related vein,and what leads me to question such occurrences is this : I don`t know why our membership count is close to 10,000 members,but I suspect that some algorithm gets "tickled" by mass-member activities

I am telling you the squirrel wizard is from Siberia, how else would you explain the Volga on the front page or these new members registered yesterday? Look at their ID's and descriptions! It is fishy, literally, so many ID start with "fish", the whole ocean is registering on this forum.

Hi John......My point was the manipulation of view counts as outlined in my OP....if I haven`t explained this clearly enough,I`m not surprised....I live alone and sometimes weeks pass without me vocalizing a single word....the conversations in my head are lucid and compelling...putting them down on "paper" is another matter entirely
if an entity,or entities plural, can create an effect on our website causing a digit counter to advance....then they have changed the website....I dont know how people on the internet would get paid for something like this,but I suspect that they do
