@perrone1 Tony, I have to agree 100%. But there are still so many more.
Thanks Tony ..... a vibrant blast of color and style.......I have the first two pieces in my collection, but I have the two bar luggage rack version of the wagon 🤨Â
WOW !!!!  the blue Imperial is Off-The-Charts !!!!
COMPLETELY Agree John!!
@perrone1................... Is the Imperial an unreleased piece?
@perrone1................... Is the Imperial an unreleased piece?
Yes sir. It is a prototype of what could have been; made by the Danbury Mint (1:24th), but scrapped just prior to their severance from their Chinese assembly plant. It is owned by my close & dear friend, Rick Hanmore; the last Diecast Design Manager for DM. On one of his latest visits here to our house, I photographed it for prosperity. It was all I could do to dissuade myself from getting him drunk and stealing it!Â

....I thought as much,as you related that tale previously.......I just did not recall the Imperial.
....for most of us,a brush with diecast fame involves that time we almost won that "dogcatcher and the pups van".
......your exploits encompass Chinese chicanery,Home visits from the Legendary Rick Hanmore, and secretive underground vault photo sessions at the Perrone compound......La Vida Loca !!!!
Â
Have all except the bronze custom Chrysler and, of course the Imperial prototype.
@john-barry The two bar luggage rack version?

HA!! These visits weren't secret! Rick's sister, a treasure of a lady, lives nearby. Whenever Rick would visit her from far-off New York, he'd swing by for an always wonderful & momentous visit. He and James Wolff taught me more about Danbury Mint and their diecast treasures than I ever knew. They also helped arrange it for me to write several press pieces of DM models that became advertisement letters that went out to thousands of DM collectors. Few D4C collectors ever knew that!

A fine tale of origins and associations......lore such as this makes our monthly dues seem but a pittance Mr TonyÂ
I sometimes "read ahead" ......mind filling with words and phrases that aren`t actually there.....as I scanned through this first-time-revealed bit of the true diecast back story,I read "James Beard" in place of James Wolff.......my scanning took on a new urgency as strove to learn what wonderful beast Chef Beard had prepared for the clandestine gathering
