I have always been fascinated by the B.A.T. concept cars and in the past they have been made by SMTS, Bizarre and LookSmart.
Inspired by Karl's recent haul which included a B.A.T. car made by Bizarre here are mine from Masterpiece.
Masterpiece are models made for the German market by Autocult. They are 1:43rd scale and made in resin.
Berlinetta Aero-dinamica Tecnica (B.A.T.) concept cars
All were built over the chassis of the 1952 Abarth 1400 coupe with 100-horsepower powertrain mechanicals borrowed from the Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint. Designed by Scaglione whilst working at Bertone.
Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 5 1953
This was the first of the Berlinetta Aero-dinamica Tecnica (B.A.T.) concept cars.
B.A.T. 5 was a study in high-speed stability and managed a claimed 0.23 coefficient of drag (Cd).
Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 7 1954
B.A.T. 7 carried forward B.A.T. 5's study in high-speed stability but to extremes. This shows as the design lowered the claimed 0.23 coefficient of drag (Cd) of the B.A.T. 5 to a claimed 0.19 coefficient of drag (Cd).
Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 9 1955
This was the third and final version of the B.A.T. concept cars.
B.A.T. 9 carried forward the previous B.A.T.'s study in high-speed stability but now with more conservative styling.

Very nice ! Remarkable cars and models and quite well-shown here in your images, Chris. Aerodynamic indeed!
These are definitely interesting; I don't believe I've ever seen a model in person. To my eyes, the '53 seems the most appealing, but in person I might think differently.

@karl Hey Karl I am sure there is at least one other Forum 43er who has bats in the belfry!
Amazing that you have seen the real cars and all together too!
I couldn't afford the SMTS series when they came out, missed the affordable Bizarre's B.A.T.s, never knew LookSmart did them until they were sold out. Finally, and after many years managed to secure all the B.A.T.s when Masterpiece reproduced them.
Good to see that Bizarre replicated B.A.T. 9 after it was bought in 1963 by Gary Kaberle who repainted it red and adapted it for road use. Then in the 1980s, working directly with Carrozzria Bertone, he restored it back to its original state.

@jcarnutz Hi John Hopefully, one day you will see one of these models. My preference is the most radical B.A.T. number 7!

BTW Cloud is one of the collective nouns for a group of bats in flight.
And Bertone's B.A.T.s look like they are about to take off and fly!

@karl Karl do you have B.A.T. 11 by Yow Modellini:

@chris-sweetman The little BAT 11 was a bit out of my price range. The 'real' one has an interesting story - I think it's just a rolling mockup. Gary Kaberle sold his old BAT to pay for his wife's cancer treatments and then later had this one designed. Bertone decided not to build it so he has the rolling chassis...

@karl Karl, fully understand as Yow kits aren't cheap - around £80/£90 plus another £100 plus to have them built professionally.
You never know Autocult might bring out a fully built B.A.T. 11 for the cost of a Yow kit!

I love that term "autominiologist"! I'm going to have to start using that since some have referred to me, after seeing my house and collection, as a man with a miniaturization fetish!

You're indeed a reference, and every time I see your posts with the multiple variations on a model I speculate on the size of your collection!
