I have several tow trucks in my collection, including old toys like this Dinky Commer:
Toy makers, as usual, played a game of one-upmanship, and by 1967 Corgi gave us the fantastic Holmes wrecker on a Ford chassis:Â
Just today I received an extremely accurate Peterbilt 359 rotator-type recovery vehicle in the livery of Stepp's Towing in Florida. This is part of the Altaya American Trucks series, not yet available here. I've been watching these for a while and decided to pull the trigger. Revell made a 1/25 plastic kit of the very same vehicle, and I'd wager PCT/Ixo scaled their model from this kit. Compare the model to a pic of the original I found online. The only minor quibble I have concerns the roof-mounted warning lights, which should be amber, not red.

I have the Dinky Commer wrecker in my collection and love it.
That Altaya truck looks good. Is it made of  resin with metal detail parts?

They are absolutely beautiful models !

...hmm, in your pics, those lights do look like they're painted amber. 🤔 🤔 🤨   Will you re-paint them anyway?   All the models in Altaya's American truck series are excellent, your PB 359 is no exception.
All of those look excellent. Each of them looks ready to tow any small model in for a repair. I have a blue 1953 Chevrolet tow truck in 1/38 scale from Kinsmart and it's set if one of my autos needs to go in to get fixed at the garage !

I had a relatively small Corgi collection from my childhood and, about 35 years later, my first vintage Corgi purchase as an adult was the Holmes Wrecker. It is a tremendous model and IMHO one of the great examples of the golden age of Corgi.
@ed-davis Ed - Part diecast, part plastic. Ixo has farmed out some of its production to Bangladesh, which is where this one was made.
Thanks. IXO is not the only company moving some production to Bangladesh. I recently purchased some diecast 1/72 scale model planes (Blue Angels A4 Skyhawks) from Hobby Master, which are now made in Bangladesh. For those not familiar with Hobby Master, they are one of the largest producers of diecast model airplanes.

An Altaya wrecker and the 1:1 inspiration. Got this one on eBay from a private seller in Portugal a few years ago.

@ed-davis +2 I like that one and the photo of the real one makes it very special.
BTW, anyone watch The World's Most Dangerous Roads? The Canadian episodes on the Coquihalla highway show a lot of these beasts in action.
