I went to a rain delayed Edenvale Classic Air and Car Show on August 13th. This rather unusual old vehicle was on display.

I know nothing about MG, but the grille looks later than mid to late 1930s to me.

This looks right, but noting the sign saying 'Brooklands 1930', I took the car to be from that year at the latest and was curious about the grille. Something seemed amiss however quick search shows I'm wrong and that that grille was in use in 1930....

@charles-rockett Charles I absolutely love this car. My late dentist had one which I believe was supercharged if memory serves.

This car seems to be sporting Austin Devon tail lights.

Thanks. Is there a story behind the non-existent aircraft?

@jkuvakas

It is an Avro Arrow CF105 which was a potentially 2000 mph plus Canadian fighter in the 1950s, cancelled and ordered destroyed by the government of the day. As flown with CF100 engines it was going 1200mph. The Orenda Iroquois engines intended for it were about twice as powerful.

Bits and pieces keep turning up, and one is rumoured to have been flown to Britain in 1958.

The one at Edenvale Airport is a full sized copy made by former Avro workers.

This superior aircraft was a political casualty was it not David?  This post reminds me of the very nicely done Durham Classics 1954 Ford Courier Avro Arrow set; one done in blue...one in black.

I had that set Jack. Traded it off for other models. Now I wish I hadn’t but then again, you can’t keep everything.

Yes, political pressure, partly from USA which felt the way to go then was anti-aircraft Bomarc missiles. Also, Canadian Conservative government at the time was in cost cutting mode and thought the Arrow was too expensive. About 5000 jobs were lost in Ontario and scientists and technicians moved south to California etc and worked on the budding space program.
