I served aboard (aircraft carrier) USS Nimitz from "pre-commissioning" in 1974 through commissioning (May '75) until my discharge in Feb '78. AS part of the "pre-comm" crew, I am a "plankowner" & own a piece of her after she is decommissioned (2025) & later turned into "razor blades".
As such, I was aboard her during her (Navy) "acceptance trials" when this photo was shot - hard to port, full speed...
I could tell you how fast she can go, but then I'd have to "dispose of the bodies"...

What a great photo! On the matter of speed I was shocked to read that one could water ski behind the '30s liners QMI and Normandie - I guess that means one could water ski behind USS Nimitz ? 33/ 34 Knots?

@terryslekar, A man with your experience can be valuable to JK Enterprises, Terry. you can submit a resume to Jack. Put it in a plain manilla envelope with a...er...generous expression...of your sincerity.

@jkuvakas I agree JK; Terry's marine experience and ability to "keep things close to his chest" are valuable assets to JK Enterprises Int'l. Our fleet of cigarette boats would benefit from his skill set; especially the night shift operations down south. The amount of his financial "expression of interest" would of course indicate his level of commitment to our organization. It's not about the money for us obviously; it's all about trust and dedication.

@terryslekar I reckoned being a safe distance I might get away with asking - especially if the question were innocently disguised.
Hmmm...does this mean I can join the club?
@terryslekar remember Terry you can join, but there's no leaving.
@terryslekar Terry; JK as CEO of course has the ultimate decision; but I can tell you that once we receive your application, including generous fee, it will be just a matter of time before you get a response. Please consider including details of your considerable computer skills in image enhancement. We are hoping to reconfigure the surfaces of our cigarette boat fleet to make them radar resistant.
That ship isn't being chased by a red and white Torino, is it?
The Starsky & Hutch one? Hmmm...🤔

Wow! That's a lot of fifties, Terry! Can you make more?
BTW, we're not a club. We are an elite, multi-national organization of altruists and humanitarians who blah, blah, blah. For more information, you can talk to ur lawyers, Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe.
