Cool article - Thanks Frank! Funny, I guess; I've always loved the T-Bird. Driven a few but never owned one. I fell for the Corvette and owned three. I'll never know what would have been had they kept the T-Bird a two-seat sports car beyond 1957. It would likely have been a different scenario...for more than just me!
Great pics of proud T-Bird owners. I particularly like the one of the happy, casually dressed owner of the '56........his proud smile says it all. I still like the original '55 the best with the '57 a close second, but do understand the very successful move by Ford to improve market sales with the 4-seater Square Bird. I have a feeling that if this hadn't been done this car may not have survived.
@perrone1 I’m on my 4th Corvette 2016, (77, 90, and 2007) and had an 85 and 94 Tbird (both new) but always wanted a 55 Tbird (which by the way got me into collecting 143 scale models.

Great story Frank! Like you and Jack, my very favorite birds were the '55 followed by very close second '57.
My favorite pic is the 1961 in front of the new housing construction---her new car in front of her new house! I've owned two Thunderbirds, a 1984 Turbo Coupe five speed, and a 1990 Super Coupe automatic. I loved the SC, but as it aged, sensors began failing and repairs were expensive. I sold it in 2002 after the ABS died.
My all time favorite car for styling, the '57 followed closely by the '55 T-bird. Like the square '58 - '60 & '64 - '66. Don't care for any others with the exception of the '87 & '88 Turbo Coupe.
Vettes; I love the '62 followed closely by the '61. '58 to '60 are alright and so are the '64 to '67. Don't care for any of the others.
Never fit comfortably in the low two seaters. My choices; full-size to mid '60s & mid-size mid '60s to early '70s.
I have owned my 1961 Corvette for 52 years and my 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster for 34 Years. Having just turned 84 a few days ago, I'm finding getting into and out of the Vette is becoming increasingly difficult while the T Bird is quite easy with its swing away steering wheel.

Happy Belated BIRTHDAY Bob!! Thank you for your guiding automotive knowledge. God Bless my friend!!
Sorry I didn't know it was your birthday. Happy belated birthday Bob !!
Thanks guys. I used to think age was just a number but I'm starting to think that might not be so true.
@bob-jackman, I hope you had a great one. I thought the same thing. Now, my body tells me differently. Everything is sore all the time! 😊

I'm not a medical doctor nor a psychiatrist but it seems to me that the secret of serenity through aging is to have your mind decline at just a smidgen quicker rate than the rest to achieve the maximum blissful ignorance.
Just kidding....!
