Radio show on KMET 94.7 in Los Angeles in the '70's-'80's. 

They're radio call sign was "A little bit of heaven 94.7 KMET a tweedley de".

I can relate to most of that.....

But here's one for all of ya....

I do remember "calling"  friends.  That is, if we wanted to play with Tom & Frank,  for example, we would go to their house, stand on the porch and call, "TA-AHM!, TA-AHM!, TA-AHM!"  or "FRAY-ANK!, FRAY-ANK!, FRAY-ANK!" 

I remember doing this into the early 1970's but by the late '70's, I don't recall seeing ANY kids doing this. Suddenly, using the telephone (..on a 2nd line just for the kids ) became the "cool"  thing to do.

Do any of you remember standing on porches, "calling"  your friends?

Yes! I remember calling friends from in front of their house!

I also remember scraping the cork from bottle caps. There were prizes under there!

Then you’se a yungin’…

Pull the cork out and press the cap onto your T shirt and push the cork back in with the T shirt between and you had a soda cap button. What fun as a kid and if lucky enough to have the bottle, worth 2 cents; bought a lot of 3 in 1 AMT & JoHan plastic model car kits with soda bottle money as well as cleaning up the road side.

Great to remember, guys, but there is a down side, as this poem shows.
