Geoff, two well done models. You did the Coronet the same way I did mine, leaving it the blue it was molded in. The Alfa is really nice and those kits are well made and the parts just fit so well.
Those both appear excellent ! The 1965 Dodge Coronet seems like it may be the same mold as used by my 1/25 '65 Coronet by Polar Lights. They are really good-looking models.
...your Dodge is leaking alot of trans fluid. 😏 😏 😏

yep taken in for repair Chris! BTW I'm going to have a go at fixing the shiny roof on the recent tractor build. It was annoying me, then more so after your constructive comments. I've bought some pigment powder and enamel thinner to possibly have a go at dusting it. Trouble is I work outside and its so darned hot here at present glue and paint dry on their brushes even before they can be applied!
thanks Mike and John

LoL! 😀
-Wow, that's hot. If I wanted to make that shiny black "flat," I would use common, inexpensive flat spray paint. One or two super-quick coats would solve your issue in seconds. Good luck, post pics.

I remember that AMT '65 Dodge Coronet very well. That was also the first year of the AWB Mopar funny cars, which for 14-year-old Marty was an enormous fascination! I used that model to create my first AWB funny car. I painted it metallic purple, and I cut up the Ramchargers decals to spell out a fantasy name, MC HARES Dodge. I was so proud of that custom modification! I cannot imagine what the adults thought of it when I proudly showed them my modified model. After seeing the wheels in a "funny" position, as well as the crudeness of the modification, I'm sure they were being polite when they said, "That's very nice, Marty." LOL! 🤣
Here's a Photoshop of a 1:1 car of what my 1:25 scale model kind of looked like.
@marty-johnson thats great Marty, thank for the response. Any thoughts of having another go? Kits are readily available now.
I was so proud of that custom modification!
Marty you made me remember, with your MC HARES Dodge, that I still have the 1/25 model I entered in a contest between two high schools. I took 1st place (still have the trophy ) but looking back now I can't imagine how. I guess all my "colorful detail" helped. Hey, I was 16, gimmie a break! 🙄 🙄
It's amazing I still have this. Many parts have fallen off, into the box (with my name was written on it by one of the Judges ). I last saw this 20 years ago, but it hasn't been seen in public since I boxed it right after the contest. That was 44 years ago. OMG! 😲 😲 😬 😬
I had a thing for trunks even then..AND..this model also had working steering, so I was in heaven! Wow!
@chris hey Chris what a fabulous recollection. Mate your skill level back then was amazing, look at the engine detail, that alone would have given you 1st prize!
Never kept any of mine from way back. I do remember a 61 T'Bird, not much else unfortunately. I was also into planes at the time too. One of my surreal moments was about 12 months ago walking back into a CBD hobby story I hadnt been in for about 60 years. Still there and thriving.
your skill level back then was amazing
Thanks, but I chuckle now; there are plenty of mistakes...painting the bottom of that trunk the same color as the gas tank...really makes me laugh! About "100 years ago" I sold off 99.8% of all my childhood models. Funny you mention hobby stores... only ONE of my childhood hobby shops is still in business, the location changed but I saw it last a few years ago when I re-visited that city.
@geoff-jowett - Yes, I've seen them being built by 1:25 modelers. There are lots of people like you who are doing fabulous builds in that scale. I've admired their work as I have yours.
My current scale interest is strictly in 1:18. Any work I would do now would be custom modifications of 1:18 scale models.
I was so proud of that custom modification!

Wow, man! How cool is that to still have a model you built so many decades ago? I don't have ANY of my stuff from my teen years! I wish I did because I was sooooooo proud of some of the custom work I did then! I always had dreams of entering a model in the annual Autorama contest held every year at Cobo Hall in Detroit. I never did, though.
Also, it's kinda funny to see your "trunk fetish" started at such a young age! Some things never change! LOL!
