It comes mounted on a simulated salt base and includes an acrylic dust cover to protect these unique replicas.On Dec 17, 1979 the claim was made that the sound barrier was broken on land for the first time by the Bud Rocket with an estimated speed of 739.66 MPH (Mach 1.01) The run was calculated by the Air Force on the Rogers Dry lake at Edwards AFB and was never recognized by any sanctioning body since no sonic boom was ever recorded.
