This is the Porsche 962 C GTI – Palmer / Weaver / Cobb 24h Le Mans 1987 in 1:18 scale by Tecnomodel. At the 1987 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Britten–Lloyd Racing team entered a Porsche 962C GTi, driven by Jonathan Palmer (UK), James Weaver (UK), and Price Cobb (USA). This car featured innovative modifications, including a honeycomb-composite chassis designed by Nigel Stroud, adjustable suspension, and movable wings, distinguishing it from standard 962C models . Despite these advancements, the team faced challenges during the race. Price Cobb had suffered a significant accident during practice, leading to a reshuffling of drivers. During the race, the #15 Porsche 962C GTi retired after 112 laps due to an accident . The 1987 race was notable for its challenging conditions, including poor weather and fuel issues that affected many teams, resulting in only twelve classified finishers—the fewest since 1970.This model is hand painted and polished to a beautiful finish and has a sealed body. Resin models are exceptionally accurate of scale, shape and detail. Each model is created using a variety of production processes, to achieve this precision. They are produced using a composite material referred to in the industry as “resin”. Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are often used for the most authentic replication.
