This is the De Tomaso Pantera 5.8L V8 #31 1972 24h Le Mans in 1:18 scale by LS Collectibles. The De Tomaso Pantera 5.8L V8, entered by Escuderia Montjuich with the number 31, took on the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans with Swiss drivers Herbert Müller and Cox Kocher behind the wheel. Müller, a highly skilled endurance racer, had a strong reputation in both sports car and hill climb racing, often driving Porsche prototypes. Kocher, though less renowned, contributed to the team’s efforts in one of the most grueling endurance races in motorsport. The 1972 Le Mans was notable for introducing the Porsche Curves, replacing part of the dangerous Maison Blanche section, significantly altering the track’s high-speed dynamics. Reliability was a key challenge for the Pantera, as many GT entries struggled with mechanical failures against the backdrop of a race dominated by Matra’s powerful and resilient prototypes. This model is hand painted and polished to a beautiful finish and has a sealed body. Resin models are exceptionally accurate of scale, shape and detail. Each model is created using a variety of production processes, to achieve this precision. They are produced using a composite material referred to in the industry as “resin”. Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are often used for the most authentic replication.
