Ludwig, known as “King Klaus” for his dominance in touring car and endurance racing, was a master of high-powered turbocharged machines. The 1980 DRM season was particularly competitive, featuring fierce battles between Ford, Porsche, and BMW in the spectacular Group 5 “silhouette” era, where extreme aerodynamics and massive turbo power defined the cars. Ludwig’s skill in extracting the maximum performance from the Capri Turbo made him a top contender, and his fearless driving style helped solidify Ford’s presence against strong opposition.
