Mauro Cinotto, an accomplished Italian rally driver, was known for his skill in handling powerful rear-wheel-drive rally cars, while Novaro brought seasoned navigational expertise to the partnership. This rally was unique for its dramatic mountain stages, which combined narrow, winding roads with rapidly changing weather conditions, demanding exceptional precision and adaptability from the drivers.
