It was equipped with a high-revving, solid-lifter 302 cubic inch V8 engine that produced 290 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential. The Z28 was also outfitted with power front disc brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, and a functional rear spoiler. The Daytona Yellow paint color was an optional extra-cost choice, and only a limited number of Z28s were produced with this color.
