This is the Alfa Romeo 179 1980 USA EAST GP B. Giacomelli in 1:18 scale by Tecnomodel. At the 1980 United States Grand Prix East (also known as the U.S. Grand Prix at Watkins Glen), Bruno Giacomelli emerged as a standout in the Alfa Romeo 179, securing a historic pole position—the first for Alfa Romeo since 1951. Utilizing the 179’s potent 3.0L V12 and ground-effect aerodynamics, he built up an impressive 12-second lead early in the race, showcasing both the car’s capability and his own precise driving. Tragically, with victory in sight, his charge was cut short on lap 32 when an electrical failure caused retirement. This race was particularly memorable not only because of Alfa Romeo’s rare front-row performance but also because it marked the final Formula 1 appearance at the legendary Watkins Glen circuit. This model is hand painted and polished to a beautiful finish and has a sealed body. Resin models are exceptionally accurate of scale, shape and detail. Each model is created using a variety of production processes, to achieve this precision. They are produced using a composite material referred to in the industry as “resin”. Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are often used for the most authentic replication.
