The race, held at the demanding Montjuïc circuit in Barcelona, was known for its combination of fast straights and tight, technical corners, testing both driver skill and car balance. Lauda, still a rising star, demonstrated his trademark precision and determination, pushing the V12-powered but somewhat temperamental BRM to its limits.
