Known as “Il Drago,” Munari led from start to finish—never relinquishing the lead across a grueling 6,500 km route that featured daunting stages such as the legendary Col de Turini. The Stratos HF, purpose‑built by Bertone with a mid‑mounted Ferrari Dino V6, was one of the first true rally‑specific cars and cemented its reputation as the “monster to beat” in the mid-’70s, winning Monte Carlo three times in a row for Lancia in 1974–76 and redefining rally car design.
