Fisher was one of Ireland’s most successful rally drivers, renowned for his speed on the demanding Irish tarmac stages, while Kennedy was his highly experienced navigator and long-time partner. The Impreza 555 was particularly significant because this was Fisher and Kennedy’s first Rally of the Lakes with the Impreza, replacing their previous Subaru Legacy RS. Its compact Group A design featured permanent four-wheel drive, a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four boxer engine, advanced differentials, and a lighter, more agile chassis than the larger Legacy.
