Hesnault, a French driver making his way through the highly competitive Formula 1 field of the turbo era, gained valuable experience against some of the sport’s biggest names. What set the Ligier JS23 apart from many of its rivals was its turbocharged Renault-Gordini V6 engine and advanced carbon-fiber composite chassis, a technology that was becoming increasingly important in Formula 1 during the mid-1980s. Combined with its sleek aerodynamic design and French engineering pedigree, the JS23 represented Ligier’s effort to compete with the leading turbo-powered teams in one of Formula 1’s most technologically ambitious periods.Spark models are hand painted, decorated and assembled.
