    Review

Enter the age of the “Jet Bird”. Danbury Mint has indulged us with Ford’s various Thunderbird stylings over the years. They treated us to the ’55, ’56 and ’57 “Baby Birds”. They proceeded to “wow” us further with the “Square Birds” concept, model years from ’58 through ’60 and they originally gave us the?61 and ’62 “Bullet Birds”. No ’63 has yet to be offered.
The 1964 T-Bird was a new styling exercise and termed the age of the Jet Bird. The roof lines were shorter, the wheel base was stretched to 113 inches and the body panels and bumpers were redesigned. To many this was the last classic T-Bird era.

With Danbury’s replication, you can certainly see why the sixty four is held so high in automotive esteem. The balance of the machine, in terms of esthetics, aero-auto design and coupled to a deftness of picking perfect period color combos, place this Bird high in the DM ranks in my eyes.

The Danbury Boyz chose Vintage Burgundy metallic with period-cool black interior and medium thick white walls. The chrome metal foil scripts just continue to get better. And I’ll never tire of the internal hinged doors and scissors sprung hood. An interesting detail on this model is the tinted windshield header. It lends an authentic 1:1 look to the Ford. The seat backs fold all the way forward allowing passengers access to that cozy back bench and the detailing of dash, wheel and floorboards is amazing.

I collect the other “era” Birds and I really thought I should have this one. In person it is simply T-Bird opulent.
