I got this model toy car when I was a kid and I still have it. It can be battery-powered and the kit was made by the Unger Toy Company. It dates from about 1960 or so and is a fairly close replica in about 1/16 or 1/14 scale of the real Plymouth XNR 2-seat dream car that used Valiant running gear. I am not sure if this was officially licensed by Chrysler Corporation or Plymouth but it is a really cool model in any case.
I do not remember that car, but I do remember Unger. I think I had one of their models, possibly a hot rod style car.

That's so cool that you still have it. Looks like something the Jetsons might have used. GREAT pic!
what a prize to have in a model car collection. Love it!
I do remember this Eldon model. I am amazed that Michael still has his.
- I had never seen / nor heard of this toy before.
- Yes indeed, I've noted many times that it's surprising to see the number of childhood toys Mike managed to save - in very decent condition too!
The revenge of the pack-rat !
Being a History major and graduate, I used to have even more stuff from the past to look at and reminisce ..... but time and space and reality do lessen things over the years.
It is pretty cool and Unger made some really neat toys ! I think Dad got this for me perhaps in New York when he was there on a business trip .......but Unger toys could be gotten around the USA, I think.
