Wow! this brings back memories - If this is a Yat Ming (Road Signature) then this was the first 1:18 diecast model I ever bought!
I went on to buy a lot more but I found that the Exoto and then the Shelby Collectibles models were more accurate in body shape and the Exotos better detailed but at a much higher price
Still if you are looking to have just one it is not a bad representation of the 1965 Sebring winner even if it is missing the fender stripe
It is a Yat Ming labeled as a Road Signature, it was only about $20 to $30 dollars price point at the time. I found a new in box Exoto Cobra Daytona number 5 car that should be arriving Saturday. The Exoto definitely has far more detail and due to that is a much more expensive purchase.
@john3976 Now you are scaring me. The second Daytona Coupe that I bought was the Exoto #5! Interestingly enough the roofline of the Yat Ming model is a close match to the Cobra Coupe that Shelby's friend John Willment built. It was one of the first cars that I custom built (not very well I might add but I was just learning)
These are some pictures of it next to the first of my 'custom' Exoto Daytona Coupes the #9 car that Gurney/Grant drove at Le Mans in 1965
Nice looking Daytona's you have, there is just something about a Cobra Daytona that makes it timeless.
I have to agree with Frank about the Shelby Collectibles models. While they aren't perfect, they are good models for the price point. I currently only have 1 Daytona coupe and it is a CMR model, I like it. I also have 2 GTs by Shelby Collectibles, one is the #4 1967 GT MK IV, the other is the #1 1966 GT40 MKII. I haven't got around to taking photos of all my 1/18 models but it's one my list of things to do.
