Without intending to, I managed to collect three versions of the Mickey Thompson 4-engine LSR Challenger 1.
Years ago, Bill Bennett and I attended the NHRA Museum in Pomona. We were actually there for a car show on the Pomona grounds, and while we were there, we decided to visit the museum next door. In the gift shop, they had a 1:16 scale ceramic Thompson Challenger 1, selling for around $200. I always coveted the car, so I didn't hesitate to buy it. Months (possibly years) ago, Bizarre released a 1:43 model. I bought that one! But what I REALLY wanted was the car in 1:18 scale. Replicarz produced one, and I jumped all over that one like ugly on an ape! So now, I have three Mickey Thompson Challenger 1 cars.
I screwed up and didn't buy the Goldenrod! Now, they can't be found!
While I don't collect race cars, I really like these LSRs. Spoke with Bill Bennett this past week.
@bob-jackman - Cool! We went to breakfast this week. He always speaks fondly of you and Rich.
@marty-johnson He says the same about you. Bill's all wrapped up with his Corvette and having a great time. Good for him.
