Type 35s and 57s are out there, but where can you go to find a 1934 Bugatti Type 59? You guessed it. The Type 59 was powered by a 3.3 liter supercharged producing 250 HP. Only 8 were ever built. This was a kit build that I kinda gave a race worn look to. What I didn't do was to put a mirror on the cowl mounted piece. I didn't realize until now what it's purpose was. The build was in the '90s when the internet superhighway was more of a dirt road.
Yes, another great example of making the most of what you have! 😏
The only Bburago I've ever purchased (probably for $5 ) was this '55 VW 35 years ago - LONG before any other 1/18 VWs were available. Like you, I too added (painted ) detail best I could - the trunk, luggage, engine, etc... were all improved.
The irony, of course, is that despite sitting "in the open" for 35 years, it's held up far better than many 1/18 models costing 20 -30 times as much. There's not a blemish, paint bubble, imperfection anywhere!
The blue finish is as glossy smooth today as it was 35 years ago. 🤨 😐 🤨
Oh man, Rich / Chris - I LIKE!
@perrone1 Again, when these Bburago VWs (slightly over-scaled ) were new, they were the only "1/18 VW game in town."
Years later, Johnny Lightning released a wonderful 1/18 '63 - that I have (...at one point these were fetching $120+ on eBay ) Then, a few years after that, Autoart released the quintessential 1/18 VW - that I don't have.
- you gotta love 1/18 vintage bugs! 😎 😎 😎
