BMW's V12/ McLaren posted below was already headed to obsolescence when it crashed at the 1998 Le Mans race. BMW Motorsport went to Williams F1 Grand Prix Engineering for new more aerodynamic design which resulted in this spyder configured car. BMW reworked their next gen V12, the S70/3 which was now 6.0 liters which now produced a restricted 590 HP @8000 rpm. With the brand new chassis and body the overall weight of the car was just under 2000 lbs. With Dell Computers as their major sponsor, the car started with a win at the 12 Hours of Sebring to go on with this #15 car winning the 1999 Le Mans overall as a prototype. It reached 214 mph on the Mulsanne Straight. In 2000 the BMW V12 LMR competed in the American Le Mans Series recording 2 race wins. That year BMW put an unrestricted V12 in an X-5 and it tore up the Nurburgring with a lap time of 7 min 47 sec.

Is this the Kyosho model? I have the Maisto version of the same car, it looks great in my display case.
