Cars in the Artisan Series by GreenLight are resin I believe.
That is much easier to modify than die cast metal, but when you need to combine the two materials, I have no idea how that may work. It is a worthy task indeed to create a replica of your own car, so please keep us updated how that goes. Good luck!

Ill throw my 2 cents in. First, to my knowledge you cannot solder these diecast metal models. What I have used to meld body parts together are JB Weld and metal pins (to act like rebar between the two parts being joined). The rest is dremel, sanding, trimming, bondo and primer. Good luck and please post pictures.

I believe these new Greenlights are diecast, as their front doors open. I have the Mad Max Interceptor from their Artisan line and it's diecast. I already have the Hunter '77 Monaco and NYPD '75 Fury on preorder; I'll need to order a third for this operation.
Then I'll need to find an Autoworld '71 Charger. One concern of mine is if the tumblehome from the two match up, the outward curvature from the top of the doors/fenders/quarters to the bottom...

Since the hood does not open on these 4-doors, I may see if it's possible to splice in the hood hinge bodyside section from the Charger into the "Coronet," then shorten the Charger hood to a Coronet length. I imagine this will be pretty ugly if I manage to finish it, but I'll try and post pics with my progress!

Zack, John is correct; solder will NEVER work. I've done several extensive diecast mods and have...
..used epoxy putty and pins followed by sanding, shaping, etc... A Dremel with a GOOD SUPPLY of blades (cut-off wheels) can cut through these diecast molds fairly quickly.
