The clumsy hinges always turned me off combined with the fact that there are many far more beautiful Ferraris. However until there's a better version, which I doubt will happen, I caved and bought one. It's growing on me.
I'm planning on doing the '64 Road America Hansgen/Pabst version in red. Very much like your #3 which is the same car #6047, repainted Mecom blue.
Augie Pabst drove it at Bridgehampton in 1964, the first race I ever went to. Hansgen won in the Mecom rear engine Scarab. That's a 1:18 I'd like someone to make! Or any Scarab.

I'd be interested to see your mod when its done.....
and while I understand your comment about the look of the LM the fact is the real car is more handsome than the model - particularly the long nose.
And it will indeed grow on you - especially from the front.
In a way it is a testament to how much Hot Wheels has improved that one can be less than completely satisfied with this car.

Going to be a while on the 250LM, I'm presently doing the 1963 Grady Davis Corvette raced by Dick Thompson at Daytona and the 1968 Porsche 911 Brumos Porsche driven by Peter Gregg at Watkins Glen.
But here's a picture of the Road America car and the car the next week at Bridgehampton before they changed the number for the race.

What I can't figure out is why it doesn't have an RA inspection sticker.
