I made a light box
Out of project foam board. Bought a couple different materials as flooring - checkerboard, a gray mottled, black textured/flat and black shinny, along with your basic white.

I still need to work on controlling reflections. Used paper as a diffuser since the material I had bought was too thin and you could see the light fixture in the windshield. So still need to experiment a bit. But the box makes things much easier to control the shot.
Which flooring do you like best?

They all look good but I suppose it might depend on the subject car.

Nice! Some things you can try...
Take a large sheet of poster paper, rest half of it against the back of your box and use the other half as your flooring, it will eliminate the edge in the background. You can experiment with different poster paper for different effects. Glossy paper will yield some dramatic results.

I found (prefer) light grey high lights most car colors best; but each photo shoot begs to experiment until you find what you like best. I can almost always guess who (our contributors)shot a certain lay-out with out seeing their name........you'll find your individual style.

They all look great. I tried the light box concept several times now...
I have never been pleased with the results. I prefer using nature's light and natural settings. I suppose that's my style, but I won't ever stop experimenting with something new. Like Paul stated, you'll find your style and I'm sure when you do, it will be awesome. Good luck, and remember to have fun while your doing it.
