I recently saw this 1/18 diecast model on a Chinese site and , since this era of Volvo is one of my 'Holy Grails', I took a chance and pulled the trigger. It just recently arrived here and I must say, the proportions, detail, and quality surpass all my expectations. The model comes with early '50s style wide whitewalls, so the only modification that I've made is to narrow the whitewall width to be a little more mid and later '50s style.
I saw this a few weeks ago and thought it was really cool! 😎 😎
It was advertised as a 1961 model (or at least that's what I remember ).... I'm glad you're happy with it; normally, I do NOT collect foreign cars - but I have some here & there. This Volvo has lots of charm; I may give in yet! 🤔 🤔
Congrats Cliff, it looks great, and yes.... thinner, more period correct whitewalls, look much nicer!
Looks like a fantastic model. Thanks for sharing.
Great looking model. The vice-principal of my local high school had a 1961 Duett but I’m pretty sure that it was a 544 with the one piece front windscreen. That may have been the change over year from the 444. I see that this one is a 1953 based on the box label. Thanks Clifford.
