GM as well as their subsidiaries were all pumping out Motorama concept cars based on the Corvette chassis with 2 seat sports cars in mind. GM was mulling over resurrecting the LaSalle nameplate with this 1955 "LaSalle ll" built as both a roadster and 4 door pillarless sedan. Ultimately they cancelled a LaSalle offering because Cadillac sales had skyrocketed and offering a lower cost Cadillac would dilute the brand. The bodies both had vertical grills with signature 'Dagmar' bumpers with side coves that would reappear on the following year Corvette. The doors of the roadster were push button 'suicides'> If produced, the LaSalle ll would have their experimental fuel injected DOHC 2.5 liter aluminum V6 shown in mockup form. It was good for about 150 HP during development. It offered independent rear suspension and frame rails that enclosed the exhaust system. The wheels are of exposed brake drums. Harley Earl was about to retire so he put a lot of himself into these concept to show GM the way forward. Case in point, if you look hard at the LaSalle badge on the hood, you can just make out Earl's dog. Both cars escaped the crusher and were pulled from junk yards by collector, Joe Bortz. The roadster was fully restored and electrified so it's no longer a pushmobile. The sedan was kept in its junkyard condition.

That's one I've never seen and I have been a Corvette guy since I was literally 6!!

When they got to the rear of the concept I think they got bad gas pains and quit prematurely.

@perrone1 I guess the rear does look a bit bare especially when they went with front and rear bumperettes. Perhaps a contrasting facia panel would jazz it up a bit?

@paul-rouffa ... I saw this pair last year.    I'm not certain I like that unrestored 4-door in "as found condition"  more OR less than "restored condition."    One could make arguments either way.     🤔 🤔 🤔     I suspect the museum will never restore it.
