This GM/Buick Centurion concept car from the 1956 Motorama is just a delight. I'd love to own the real one. It would seem like a blast to drive with its 325 hp V8. Oddly, one of its most popular features were its bucket seats with headrests which up to then were only found in European cars. It had no mirrors but had a rear facing B&W TV camera above the rear Buick inscribed bullet and a monitor on the dash. When the bubble top was raised, the seats automatically moved for easy entry and exit. The side windows did not have the ability to open but the cowl mounted scoops provided fresh air to the cabin. Over the years, a lot of the styling cues from the cockpit were incorporated into production cars and the rear wings were used in the '59 Buicks and Chevys.

This is a new concept to me Rich. Great looking vehicle with lots of innovations.
Great post. Thanks Rich.
I see a little "1958 Chevrolet" in those rear wings (...and '59 Chevy.... and '59 Buick) 😉Â
Love it !
Great pics and info.
Thnx !
Steve
Fantastic pictures and writeup Rich. When these models came out in 1/18 scale I was completely out of display space for 1/18 scale models so I settled for the 1/43 scale.
Gorgeous Buick dream car, as is the Wildcat II ! These are resin I presume, and were both of these done by the same company in 1/18 scale ?
