Looks like the HW Elites are hit and miss
Love this car, but not too impressed with the quality of the model. Granted, the shape is very difficult.

yes & no. This 360 Spyder was first released as a non-Elite model & then detail was added after the fact. The newer releases that were engineered as Elites first are substantially better.

These are much better
I have both 308s - one in red, one in yellow and they look much like your 308.
I have the California too, but it's a CMC, and it is breathtaking - wish CMC made all the Ferrari's!

Either MR or BBR, can't remember which, were hired by Hot Wheels to make certain their new models are up to standard, hence the recent ones are of much better quality.

Are Elite versions of standard HW models retooled from the ground up?

nope...same basic mold, just added details (carpet, photo-etched badges, etc.)

Thanks, Gavin, that's very helpful.
The Elite is a better more detailed model but I'm not sure it gets it to the $70+ range. Not when judged against SS Platinum or Highway 61 which run around the same money.
Can you ID some purpose-made Elites for me? I have several marked "Elite" but I'm not savvy enough to tell which are genuine and which are re-dos.

The most recent Elite models are new toolings as explained above.

easier to do it that way. Some of these are better than others (I have a lot of them). Hope this helps. Feel free to ask about specific models you're considering.
