Nice, but in a bad / wrong color 🙁
Nice, but in a bad / wrong color 🙁
? I think it's a good color. And it's certainly not "wrong".
I think it's the "pearl" finish that would be wrong on a factory painted 1939 Lincoln, however.... Is this 1/18 Lincoln truly finished in pearl white? Or can we attribute this "look" to your applied "special effects" in your pic Mike?
I don't know... as I do not own this model (or I might have it in black ???)
I had it in black. I remember it was a pearl white and I thought that would not be an available paint finish in 1939. But then, I could be wrong.
I've owned "a few" post war Lincolns and, for a time, I was a member of the LCOC but I'm not an expert on 1939s either. I doubt pearl white was "factory," but I can always reference a period paint guide.
Anyone know for sure?
But I think we all agree it was a fantastic model at a fantastic price !
I have the black and love it. The model really stands out on display and is certainly imposing.
(1) There is no "law" that insists diecast models must only be done in what is "claimed" to be factory colors.
(2) In any case, models are just as valid if they are supposed to be of a restored car. Or a "what-if" version. Or a special/one-off version done for a customer at the factory or by a dealer before sale.
(3) It's impossible to 100 % prove beyond any doubt whether something is factory correct. What is "factory correct, in any case ? No data, and certainly no internet data or color sheets or factory statistics can absolutely be guaranteed to be perfect or totally complete or error free.
(4) It is especially risky to judge the color of a model based on viewing a computer monitor. Having it in hand is more accurate but still dependent on the viewers eyes and the lighting conditions it is viewed under.
(5) Thus, it is a moot point and can hardly be used definitively to say a model is "wrong".
(6) If you like it, buy it and enjoy it. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. Problem solved.
Ahhh,mike point 6…..that’s what I did!
Well, I thought it looked good in white, that's the color I have too.
