Cliff, I must ask... you have such eclectic taste. What is (are) your favorite vehicle(s)?

Christopher, yes, both Larry and I do have very eclectic tastes and....

It seems that as I mature (yeah, sure!), my only criteria in models are good finishes, proportion, and detail. We collect in any and all scales, including full size cars, although I'd have to say most of our restored full size cars (there are around 20 of them in our shared heated storage garage) are microcars. Luckily, our wives have been quite understanding.
I grew up as kind of a Chevy guy, and I still like old Chevies but I guess I've seen enough of the usual mainstream '60s cars and I now find myself attracted to orphan cars and production odd-balls. I also really like big trucks and construction equipment. When I retired (industrial Design at Nortel) one of my bucket-list dreams was to drive a tractor-trailer, so I took the AZ driver's course and drove a big-rig for almost a year just for the pleasure of it. I've also bought a small diesel tractor with a backhoe just to have fun digging holes and filling them in. Winter is model building time for both Larry and me.
Appropriately, I've just bought myself a t-shirt that says 'Cleverly Disguised as a Responsible Adult'.
Oh yeah, I also like old sprintcars and midgets. Attached is a pic of my restored midget racer in my front yard.

..suspicions about your collection/interests-AND-I can (and have been fortunate enough to) relate to most of it. I would've never guessed, however, that a back-ho was on your bucket list. LOL

I'm sure will meet at a model show one day...assuming events like that resume; sadly, it may be a while.

That's a fascinating story! I have a friend who retired as a computer programmer...

... and like you, he always had the romantic notion of driving a big rig as well. He got his license, enjoyed the experience, and drove for the contractually obligated one-year. He quit on day 366. LOL!
