We NEVER charge for a pre-order car until it's actually shipping. What if it's canceled?

Sorry to hear about your experiences pre-ordering through eBay.

I've never pre-ordered from a seller on eBay, mainly because in my understanding, there is no guarantee that the model will arrive before your Buyer Protection expires. If it arrives after the expiration, you have very little recourse.

I have only pre-ordered through Legacy Motors and never had an issue. Best of all...

Legacy Motors also doesn't require payment up front. Once the model arrives, you receive an email with instructions to complete your checkout and they ship it right out.

Some of the higher priced models may require a small deposit, but most models do not.

I pre-order certain models I know I will want to add to my collection once released. If it helps the hobby shop or retailer to stay in business so they can plan their orders accordingly then I try to support where I can.

I pre-order from Supercar Collectibles all the time. They have always come through.

I preorder on rare occasions,particularly if the release is a limited edition. Recently I preordered a convertible conversion of one of my favorite 1/18 cars. A few weeks ago I saw an announcement for a beautiful repaint of the original hardtop version, and now I have that on preorder too. When it arrives I will have this particular car in every variation and color made. Can you guess what it is?

Otherwise I wait to see if pre-production negative rumors are true (ie 1960 Plymouth Fury), or I wait for a few variations to be released before I decide which one I want. I prefer coupes and hardtops over convertibles, particularly for 50's cars, so I usually try to be patient and wait for the color and body style I want (ie 1959 Dodge Custom Royal, 1960 Fury, 1958 Ford, 1959 Olds 98 etc).

One can never have too many drag cars.

Fords don't sell as well as Chevy's and Mopars, but we started the project anyway (2 '69 Mustang drag cars) really hoping to change that. We took the time to get the drivers on board, searched & collected photo's, contacted Hwy 61 with a list of parts needed, and promoted them on our site plus a few Ford forums to see if we could create enough interest. Due to past lesser interest by Ford collectors to purchase 1:18 cars, we wanted to see how many would support the efforts. We here do have to commit to 750 pcs of each car, but after months of trying we only had about 230 of each car pre-ordered. With not enough pre-orders, we had to kill the project. Similar to what Hwy 61 themselves (as a manufacturer) did on their 5 new Challengers advertised 2 years (?) ago. Not enough pre-orders. I apologize if anyone feels that we are not deserving of your money, but we do not accept any money - until cars are made - and being shipped to you. We just ask you to reserve it, if you would like one. No down payment ever. We simply are not in the position to sit on over a 1,000 of 1,700 cars, and I don't know of any dealer that can do that. The Ford community simply did not support the project like other buying groups do. That's about it, as I just felt all should know the complete facts. Thanks for the read.
