Geez Gavin,Â
Just how many models are in your collection ?Â
You always seem to have the best ones ever and I think I may have even sold you one or two models what about that BMW with the folding convertible hardtop.... That would have been years ago maybe 10 years or more it's blue it was a BMW Z4... Refresh my memories if you can...lol
@100ford2003 Thanks Steve. I'm currently at just under 500 1:18s, though was as high as 530 at one point.
I do still have that Kyosho BMW Z4...a great model & absolutely killer color combo (I'm a sucker for blue)
@gavin ...yes, great color combo and what's better than having a fully articulated top on a 1/18 convertible? 😎 😎
I used to have a 1:18 Maisto BMW 325 convertible in white and it had a black fabric folding top.
Gavin, do you have one of those too ?

It is a fantastic feature, isn't it?
I just got rid of it recently, but mine did not have the folding top. Maisto did 2 versions.
I swapped out the stock 6-spoke rims for these that used to be on a Kyosho 135i.
I used to have 2 older MBs that foldings tops...Anson's CLK320 had a softtop & UT's SLK230 had a folding hardtop.
I had the UT in yellow. Were there any other colors ?Â
I like swapping wheels / tires on models. I find it way easier on Maisto models than others.
I've done a few Ertls. Usually the wheels are in two pieces that have like four or five pins holding the two pieces together and once again you have to be real careful when trying to pop them off the axles so you don't break something.Â
I spent hours fixing the Ertl 63 Corvette because I thought the wheels and tires stuck out way too much which is something that Chris Moroni should know about. It took me forever to get them repositioned inside the wheelwells and they looked absolutely perfect. Only trouble is they no longer rotated or steered which I didn't mind. At least the model sat properly to my eyes.Â
I wish I still had it so I could take pictures of it to show you how it looked. Â
SteveÂ
P.S. I'm now working on a project because Costco got all of the Maisto models in. And out of all the 100 or so models that were there I found only one that called out my name and went home with me that night.
But I got a lot of customizing to do to bring it up to my liking.
I will start taking before and after pics to show the transformation.Â
Just give me a little bit of time I'm really busy at work.Â

I was lucky that I got that model from somebody who used to be associated with the Forum but had a falling out for some reason and I got it at a really good price. He lived in Palm springs or somewhere out there by Palm springs I don't exactly remember where but I was excited when I got it I don't know why I put it up for sale what an idiot I was.
The accuracy of the construction of that model just blew me away and the size of those tiny little screws to make that mechanism work was just fascinating
Gavin, I'm GLAD you got it cuz I know you really appreciate it !Â
I think if I remember correctly I only sold a total of 88 models from my collection to other collectors on the auction site.Â
I miss being in touch with some of those collectors. Makes me wonder if some of those buyers are still collecting. I sure as heck know they're not back on this new website otherwise I'd recognize their names.Â

Kyosho did an excellent job on their BMW line. This one, in particular is very cool & I'm thrilled to have it in this color combo. Thanks for selling it to me!
